What to Expect from Booking to Aftercare

It can be daunting when taking that first step to book with a new therapist, but please rest assured that you will be treated with care and respect from our first contact.

First Contact

Once you have contacted me, I will get in touch with you within 48 hours to arrange your appointment date whether that be for a treatment or chat about how reflexology can support you.

Initial Consultation

All new clients booking an appointment receive an initial consultation which is carried out over the telephone prior to the scheduled appointment. This conversation is a great way for you to get to know me and how I like to work even before you step into the treatment room.  The consultation is thorough and involves questions relating to your medical and family history which allows me to assess if reflexology is suitable for you and for me to develop your tailored treatment plan.  We will also talk about practical aspects such as location, parking and what to wear/bring to your appointment.  It's also a great time for you to ask me questions about how I work and any questions you may have about reflexology or Lighter Steps Reflexology. I'm very happy to answer your questions.

Your Appointment

On the day of your treatment, you will arrive at the Village Green Gym where I am based, there is plenty of on street parking so it will be easy to just drive up and make your way in. After a warm welcome, we will sit down and briefly recap from the consultation and I will most importantly ask you how you are feeling and if anything has changed since we spoke on the telephone. I will fully explain the treatment plan I have devised for you and I will talk to you about how I will carry out the treatment and if you have any questions.  I will ask you to sign my consent form where you will be able to read my privacy policy, then you will take your shoes and socks off and move to the treatment bed where I will ensure you are comfortable.  Whatever the weather, I have cosy blankets and warm or cooling flannel mitts.  There is also the option of gentle, relaxing background music, but some clients prefer the quiet.  This is your treatment so you guide the atmosphere we work in.
When you are happy to, I will begin your relaxing treatment.

I only use Songbird unscented Reflexology Balm to ensure the safety of all my clients, as it does not contain any essential oils and therefore reduces allergy concerns. I will wash my hands and cleanse your feet with moist warm or cool flannels, depending on the weather before carrying out an analysis of your feet. This is for me to check for things like temperature, colour, shape, sensitive areas and any unique traits that your feet may have.

Every treatment is personalised and begins with a warm up routine to gently mobilise your feet starting with your right foot  - your left foot rests wrapped in a soft warm towel until I finish on the right.  The reflex stimulation follows with each area worked throughout the treatment with a combination of massage and more applied pressure.   I adapt each treatment to what your feet need and are telling me as I work. The treatment finishes with a lower leg massage below the knee.

Your may drift in and out of a deeply relaxed state or even fall asleep so I will gently wake you once the treatment has finished and you will take your time to fully come round. You will be offered a drink of water and I will talk through my findings with you before offering aftercare advice for you to take home. In the majority, this also includes some hand reflexology practice to help support you until your next treatment.  We will book your next treatment before you leave to ensure that you secure your preferred date and time.

I will follow up with you a couple of days after your appointment to see how you are feeling.

Even in between your appointments, I will be thinking about how you are, what your feet will be telling me on our next appointment and how I can develop your treatment plan to better meet your needs. I love what I do and it gives me so much satisfaction to see how much my reflexology treatments benefit you.
